Overall good, mattress very hard and uncomfortable. Room basic but clean and presentable. Happy to use the site again. Welcome was efficient and pleasant. Facilities were excellent but would be massively improved by the addition of a decent mattress and tea making facilities.

I use this as an alternative to Travelodges if they are full or the price has gone up. Their rooms are usually at a fixed ish price. There is nothing wrong with this place for the odd one night stay, or if you are working away, but It's done on a budget, so there is NO tea or coffee making facility in the room 2. They keep the heaters off during the day, so your room will probably be very cold when you arrive, especially at this time of year.

The furniture is basic and no carpet in the room, so it feels sparse and cold. On the plus side, it is clean, well located for the M6 close to M62 as welland because it is at a services there is a McDonalds, Costa, WH Smith and another restaurant on site I think there is even a barbers.

It is a truck stop, so there are a lot of lorries parked up, which can make some noise. In the summer you can't leave the window open if your room is on the back, unless you want an early diesel engine alarm call. Like most budget places, you get what you pay for and although I don't mind stopping here, there are other places I prefer.

We stayed on our way back from Blackpool as we had done before with previous owners but will not be again. Noise from people upstairs walking about. My wife found bed uncomfortable. Dear Robert E, I am sorry to read you did not have a pleasant stay with us, all your comments have been noted. We do provide kettles at reception but as an Accor standard we are not permitted to supply tea making facilities in the bedrooms as standard.

Kind regards Dawn. Me and two others stayed in a family room after a concert in Liverpool.

The hotel is convenient on the services and easy to find. We arrived at around Upon arrival you only have to enter your number plate into a computer for the free parking overnight. Our room was a double with a sofa bed, the room was clean and well equipped.

We were able to see our car from the room and It was also very nice being able to buy a tea from the desk and take up to the room. Definitely be stopping here again. Dear Sarah H Thank you for your lovely comments, we all look forward to welcoming you and the family back soon. I arrived for a one night stay. Reception staff friendly and the room is large and clean.

However I was in room and the mattress is appalling it was like trying to sleep on a bag of potatoes. I had little sleep due to that. As I'm a coach driver i stop at hundreds of hotels, this one would be OK if they had new beds apart from that it was ok. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, we are looking into buying mattress toppers, so I hope if you stay with us in the future you will see a difference.

When Compass merged with GranadaPoplar was placed in the Compass Roadside division, which meant when the two were split it came to be owned by Moto.

Moto continued to use the Poplar name, but began introducing some of their partners too. As early as MayMoto looked at adding a Scoop and Ladbrokes to the main building, as well as a larger restaurant. This didn't happen, but other partners such as Costa and WHSmith were introduced, replacing the old Poplar-branded facilities. The entry barriers stopped being used, which increased car traffic but led to an increase in crime.

There had been reports that Moto were going to keep the Poplar name and apply it to Barton Parkbut by the s it could only be found on road signs, and by it had been totally removed.

Take the tram from Altrincham to Piccadilly Purple Line.I have been a HGV driver for over 20 years now and can safely say if their is one truck stop I dread going to its this one. The HGV refueling station is an ongoing joke, many times my fuel card wont scan so I have to carry on in the hope I can get to a station without running out of diesel. If I know in advance I will have to stop over night I always take my own food as the quality of theirs is nothing short of disgusting.

Everything you buy on site is top price and the staff seem to have a look on their faces that says 'God I wish I wasnt here'. If you do end up having to stay at this horrid place make sure its just to use the toilets and if you can try and move on to the next one.

Farm shop also good — I use it when returning home in the same way as I use my local farm shop. Just think of all those extra car park spaces!!! Why should you have to pay for over 2 hours, if you are actually using their services and can prove it. Its on a quiet part of the M6 and not very large. Always know Im nearly home Cumbria when I see it. I love it more than I love my own children. I also love the caravan site, but I feel that the prices are getting much too high particularly when compared with Caravan Club sites.

Heard that the same as happened to people at other MOTO brand services. Seriously overrated, Id sooner night-out in a lay-by. Boycott Moto! It does not always register vehicles leaving. They are not interested in hard facts and proof of innocence — steer clear!

I met a business colleague, we had a a busienss meeting, coffeee and lunch. I paid for lunch for 9 businese colleagues.Lymm truckstop — formerly known as the Poplar — is a strange hybrid between a truck-friendly place to stay and a car-friendly motorway services and hence it has some good things for truck drivers and many not so good things.

But Lymm must be doing something right given the amount of trucks parked there on a Friday morning. The place was positively rammed. In fairness, they offer substitutions, so I was able to change beans for extra hash browns. The Full English is another pound and is the same but also include an extra sausage, mushrooms and black pudding.

The main meals offered in the Fifth Wheel bar and grille are the usual Burgers, curry, chicken, steak and chips, mixed grille and so on. The choice is limited compared with other establishments. Prices are paid using pay points in the main building and the fees are strictly enforced by CP Plus. As well as the fast food and coffee outlets, there are also a Marks and Spencers and WH Smith selling snacks, sweets, drinks and, in the case of the latter, magazines and newspapers. Like most motorway services, however, the prices charged for snacks in these establishments is a lot more than you would pay in the high street.

That said, outside there was a mass of cigarette butts thrown on the floor which is always bad to see. The food quality was acceptable, but nothing to shout about, and it was expensive.

The staff were friendly enough and they cleared the table fairly promptly, although at the time of my visits I have to say, they seemed somewhat understaffed. Luckily it was petty quiet — if it had been busier, then they really would have struggled. In short, this is a site with lots of useful facilities for truckers, and a mass of parking. But there is plenty of room for parking, the charges for which are comparable with many other truckstops, and the site looks to be relatively secure, although I cannot vouch for that.

In short, this is a place where you pay for the extra facilities. Truckstop Review — Lymm 15th March Main meals The main meals offered in the Fifth Wheel bar and grille are the usual Burgers, curry, chicken, steak and chips, mixed grille and so on. Verdict As well as the fast food and coffee outlets, there are also a Marks and Spencers and WH Smith selling snacks, sweets, drinks and, in the case of the latter, magazines and newspapers.
